Romford striker Nick Reynolds has set his sights on a clash with ‘one of the big boys’ ahead of his side’s Essex Senior Cup quarter-final with Grays Athletic on Wednesday.
Should Boro prevail at Ship Lane they could set up a tie with Football League outfit Colchester United or Conference South teams Chelmsford City, Concord Rangers and East Thurrock United in the last four.
“A win pretty much guarantees you a game against one of the big boys in this competition, so it would be nice if we can get there.” said Reynolds.
“We have played well in this competition so far, so hopefully we can go out and get Romford into the semis.”
Romford go into the clash in good run of form, having won three of their last four games.
The latest win was 3-2 victory at home to Brentwood Town in which Reynolds netted the winner two minutes from time.
He added: “Saturday I was so happy we got a result, it was nice to see us battle all the way to the end and get our rewards for it.
“And to get the winning goal was something else.”
The Boro forward isn’t ready to look past Grays just yet however.
Paul Martin’s men defeated their cup opponents 2-1 in a recent Bostik North match at Aveley’s Parkside ground and Reynolds is expecting a backlash from their league rivals.
“Looking to Wednesday it’s obviously going to be a tough one,” he added.
“Grays will want revenge from the other week and what’s on the line here is huge.”
Romford travel to Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday in their next league match as they look to move further clear of relegation.
