To vape or not to vape? That is the question

Should e-cigarettes be sold in hospitals?

Listeners to the radio show will know was in a hospital recently visiting my Dad and I nearly had a fight with a patient.

The old chap was got confused and thought I was someone from his past. He got very aggressive.

What can you do in that situation?

Eventually I said, “Oi! I hope you like hospital food!” It was nearly dinner time for them, so I think I got away with it.

Health bosses are now saying hospitals should sell e-cigarettes and provide patients with vaping lounges.

The thinking goes like this: smoking is definitely bad for you, vaping might be bad for you, and you’re better off having a might than a definitely when it comes to things that are bad for you.

On Deal Or No Deal, it doesn’t matter what you think is in the box, if the banker offered you a bag of doggy poop you’d pick the box.

Even if the banker says, “By the way, there might be another bag in the box.”

I worry about the people who say, “I don’t smoke anymore, I vape now.”

No, you still smoke, you just smoke another thing. If your friend said, “Good news, I have quit smoking cannabis. I now bake it into cakes and eat it,” you wouldn’t think they’ve got clean. If anything they’re about to make the obesity crisis worse.

They seem to expect the hearty well done you’d give to someone who’s used gum, patches and now doesn’t smoke at all.

It’s good to move people away from harmful cigarette smoking, especially in a hospital, but if you vape you haven’t reached the finish line. You still smoke. You just smell like you sneezed while making an Angel Delight while you’re doing it.
