With cancer being on the rise, free awareness training has been set for Redbridge residents to help them recognise the health symptoms that could signify cancer.

This workshop, organised by Cancer Research UK, is designed to provide useful information about cancer and general health.

Prof Kathy Pritchard-Jones, of Univesity College London Hospitals’ Cancer Collaborative, said: “We are working with Cancer Research UK to train members of the public to have these simple, yet potentially life-saving conversations with their family, friends and local community.”

The event will take place on Monday June 26 from 12pm-3pm at Redbridge CVS, in Clements Road, Ilford, with the aim to encourage people to make healthy lifestyle changes and have the confidence to contact their GP with any concerns.

Statistics show that one in two people will develop cancer at some point in their lives and therefore getting an early diagnosis is crucial in getting the right treatment.
