If you've ever watched Jurassic World and wished you could go there yourself, despite the obvious risk of not making it out alive, then you're in luck.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition has opened at the ExCeL, and this immersive experience feels just like you've stepped into the film.

On arrival, you're directed onto a "boat" to Isla Nublar - and with the way it's set out, with the Royal Docks to the right, I briefly thought the doors would open and we'd board an actual boat. But no, it's all within the confines of the venue.

Throughout the trip, and indeed on the island too, you're greeted by friendly and knowledgeable park wardens. Those handling dinosaurs allow you to get up close and personal with the creatures - and there's even the opportunity for a selfie while stroking a rather cute baby dino. They don't bite - yet.

There are boards throughout, with information about some of the dinosaurs on show, but if you or any little ones you're with are too excited about seeing the creatures themselves to stop and read, the park wardens are easily able to answer any questions.

The exhibition includes the park's lab, with touch screens giving visitors the chance to find out more about the eggs being incubated, and a room with the opportunity to search for fossils. You can spend as long or as little as you like in most areas, too.

Fans of the film franchise will be pleased to know there are some familiar faces about - including raptor Blue who, without giving too much away, is the star of one of the rooms. You can also sit inside a gyrosphere - and after that, things start to feel a little perilous when another of the series' big stars makes an appearance.

It's just like going to the zoo - except with dinosaurs.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition is open now. Nearest station is Custom House. Tickets are available from £15 from jurassicworldexhibition.com/uk
