Residents are invited to a tree planting ceremony.

Youngsters from Hylands Primary School in Granger Way, Romford will be attending the event to celebrate the planting of 100 new street trees in Romford Ring Road on Wednesday February 27.

The project is part of the Clean Havering Campaign and was made possible thanks to a grant of £20,000 from Boris Johnson.

As part of the project, local residents, community groups and businesses were consulted to identify the 100 sites around the ring road for planting.

It forms part of a plan to ‘Green the Ring Road’, to transform the road and create a linear park.

Councillor Barry Tebbutt, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “Planting trees is a great way of creating a cleaner and more inviting environment for those who live and work in, or visit, the borough. Many generations that follow will benefit and we’re delighted to work with Tree for Cities to make this happen in Havering.”
