Sunday marks the start of National Pie Week. In honour of this very important occasion, we want to know what your idea of pie perfection is.

Do you eat yours with mash, peas and a bit of liquor on the side? Maybe you like a pie to warm you up when you go to watch the football?

This history of pies is as complex as some of the flavours on offer (chicken Balti anyone?) with the Oxford English Dictionary tracing the word back to 1303. However, it did not come into common used by 1362.

The origins of the word pie may be an abbreviation of ‘magpie’ as they collect a variety of things and early pies would be basically made up of odds and ends.

Wherever they come from, let us know what your idea of a quality pie is in the comments section below, tweet us @romfordrecorder, email news.desk@romfordrecorder.co.uk or call 020 8477 3826.
