Today is the London Borough of Havering’s 50th birthday.

Greater London was created on April 1 1965 by the Local Government Act, which designated 20 boroughs on the periphery of the capital.

A public celebration will take place from midday to 2pm today at Havering Town Hall in Main Road, Romford.

The council will recreate 1965 with a classic car and scooter display as well as a photographic exhibition of the borough.

The Recorder will have a report of the festivities in Friday’s paper – and to accompany this we would like you to tell us your favourite thing about the borough by commenting below, tweeting the paper or writing on our Facebook page.
