Breathtaking song from the acclaimed Opera Novella will fill the Queen’s Theatre when they perform the popular opera Rigoletto on Sunday, September 18, at 5pm.
Verdi’s powerful opera is sung in English by the multi-award-winning principal singers, supported by the chamber orchestra of one of the UK’s most dynamic, exciting ensembles.
The afternoon explodes with vocal fireworks, soaring beauty, stunning melodies and a thrilling, action-packed story.
A hunch-backed jester to a wealthy, debauched Duke, Rigoletto is disliked by the courtiers for making fun of everyone.
When he finds himself the victim of a terrible curse, he does all he can to protect his pretty young daughter Gilda from the strife.
Audiences will recognise famous melodies such as La Donna è Mobile sung by The Duke, Caro Nome sung by Gilda and The Rigoletto Quartet.
Rigoletto stars Simon Lobelson as Rigoletto, Andrew Bain as The Duke and Amanda Forbes as Gilda. Other characters include Aidan Smith, Jonathan Pugsley, Daniella Ehrlich and Richard Rowe.
n Tickets are £22 and £16 for children from 01708 443333.
