All the glitz and glamour of Hollywood is set to come to Romford when a big band dance club hosts a Hollywood-themed event.

Swingalls, based at the Romford United Services Social Club in Mawney Road, will be holding the Golden Days of Hollywood dance night on Friday, January 20.

Starting at 8pm, audiences can look forward to the music made famous in film and on stage by the likes of Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly, played the house big band, The Jeff Short Swing Band.

The show will also feature international cabaret artist and West End actor Jaymz May-Sinclair.

Audiences are encouraged to get into the spirit of the night by dressing up in their favourite Hollywood outfits and there will be prizes at the end of the night for the most glamorous themed costume.

Brian Moore, of Romford, started the nights in September to encourage more people to dance to swing music. He said: “Recent audiences have included an increasing number of the younger generation who have never experienced dancing to the live sound of a big band in full swing.”
