»Audiences can celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth with a special adaptation of one of his classics.
Mad Dogs and Englishmen Theatre Company will be bringing the tale of David Copperfield to the Cramphorn Theatre in Fairfield Road, Chelmsford, on Thursday June 21.
Replete with comic, cruel and repugnant characters, Dickens’ semi-autobiographical novel follows a vulnerable boy on his journey into manhood.
It is a story of the struggle against poverty and obscurity; a story of loss, loneliness, and the betrayal of innocence.
The author’s favourite novel is brought to the stage with all its dark comedy in this fast-paced and faithful adaptation.
Directed by Ann Courtney, the cast of two capture the hilarity and pathos of Dickens’ writing with finesse, depth and ingenious dexterity.
Mad Dogs and Englishmen’s adaptation of David Copperfield is compulsive theatre.
Tickets are priced £12 with £10 concessions.
