Voting has opened in this year’s Summer of Sound competition and hopefuls are competing to win a chance to perform in front of thousands at Romford’s Christmas light switch on this November.

Following a round of live auditions held at the Mercury Mall at the end of June 10 finalists have recorded performances, which can be viewed here.

Spencer Hawken, deputy centre manager at Mercury Mall, said: “Every single vote cast could play a very real part of someone’s future. Talent shows are very much forming the starting grounds of peoples careers, but it’s not all about shows like the X Factor and Britains Got Talent, its about community supported ones too, because community forms the first part of a fanbase.”

The budding performers will give live shows in the mall, which has organised the competition alongside Romford Contemporary Arts Programme, this month before the grand final in August.

To register your vote pick up a copy of next week’s Recorder fill in a form and hand it in at Mercury Mall, in Mercury Gardens Romford.
