Meet the fundraisers who are helping to fill a gap in government funding for cancer research.
They met up at the Golden Crane pub in Cranham to raise cash for The Brain Tumour Charity.
They took time on a Saturday to organise a tea party at the pub where they collected £2,645.
The money is going towards research for a cure for brain tumours.
Yet this research gets only around three per cent of government funding into cancer studies, the charity claims.
“This is why we are relentless in our quest to raise funds,” organiser Win D’cruz said. “Every penny we raise goes to research.”
They did not spend a penny on food — thanks to businesses in Upminster.
Prestons and Scrums bakery gave bread, while Waitrose Upminster handed them tea, coffee and sandwich fillings. The families themselves came with homemade cakes.
