The team that runs Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre in Hornchurch is in the running for a national award.
The centre in Hornchurch Road, which is run by Everyone Active for Havering Council, has been shortlisted in the Regional Club/Centre of the Year South category at the ukactive Awards.
“Being shortlisted for a national award is great news,” Havering Council’s deputy leader Gillian Ford said. “Our leisure centres are an asset to the community.
“We are proud in Havering, that unlike many other councils, we’ve been able to continue to invest in our leisure facilities, which are very important to our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.”
Team members now have a stab at getting the national title in the awards that recognise “innovation” in the health, wellbeing and fitness industry. The Hornchurch finalists are through to the next stage of the judging where they undergo assessments.
Regional winners and the national champion are being revealed at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on October 26.
