Docklands Sinfonia is a new, young and exciting symphony orchestra which has become a major force in London’s dynamic Docklands.

The programme of popular music starts with Eric Coates’ London Suite, which evokes the Britishness of 1930s Britain.

Success

Jeffery Wilson, a contemporary composer, and long-term contributor of the Cramphorn’s Lunchtime Concerts, will have his Timpani Concerto performed.

Played next will be Delius’s The Walk to the Paradise Garden. Completing the concert is the Enigma Variations composed by Elgar which is arguably one of the most popular British orchestral works.

Since its formation in January 2009 by musical director Spencer Down, Docklands Sinfonia has enjoyed incredible success with performances at Buckingham Palace for The Queen and the Royal Albert Hall with Grammy award-winner Imogen Heap.

The orchestra has worked with high-profile artists from cello virtuoso Leonard Elschenbroich to X Factor winner Joe McElderry, as well as the English National Ballet, the Royal Opera House and National Youth Theatre.

Tickets are £12.50 to £23 from the box office on 01245 606505.
