St Joseph’s Primary School have earned the right to represent Havering at football at the London Youth Games next month.

The Upminster-based school beat off competition from 28 others from across the borough to bag the top prize.

They won all eight of their matches and beat Gidea Park 2-0 in the final to be crowned Havering Games Cup champions at PlayFootball Romford.

The youngsters will now head off to Crystal Palace in March to compete against other London boroughs.

Coach Paul Shead said: “I’m so incredibly proud of my St Joseph’s School team’s achievement.

“We are a lovely team of very close friends, no academy players, no superstars, just hard working and determined boys who gave everything for each other.

“We look forward to representing Havering in the London Games and win, lose or draw, we will give everything on the day.”
