London Raiders forward Olegs Lascenko pleased to pick up a brace and finally get one over their London rivals Streatham IHC on the weekend.

The Lee Valley-based club made it three wins in a row with a 4-2 victory against their local rivals after suffering three cup defeats to them earlier in the season.

The gold and blue outfit took a four goal lead thanks to two goals from Lascenko and a goal each from Marek Nahlik and Oliver Baldock into the third period but ended up conceding two goals late on to make the score line less impressive.

“It always feels good to win a game, but we lost to Streatham three times before, so Saturday’s win felt even better.”

The 20-year-old picked up two goals and one assist in the match while line-mates Nahlik netted once and bagged two assists and Matt Turner got the sole assist.

The trio have been racking up the points in recent weeks and the former Bracknell Bees forward admits he flourishing playing alongside Turner and Nahlik.

“I enjoy playing with Nahlik and Turner, I think we understand each other on ice pretty well and our line has speed, strength and experience which are all very important to be successful.

“I’m pleased with my performance but that is my job, so you can’t think about it too much, and I now need to concentrate on the upcoming games.”

Lascenko believes their last three victories against league leaders Peterborough Phantoms, Milton Keynes Thunder and Streatham IHC have shown that the team is pulling together and improving in recent weeks.

“Yes, the last three games have shown that,” he said.

“The team puts in 100 per cent effort at training every session and it’s now paying off on game nights.”

The club said farewell to long-serving forward Jj McGrath after the Streatham game as he is moving to Canada.

The forward has spent a big chunk of his career in the gold and blue netting 95 points in his time with the team.

The Raiders currently sit sixth in the National League South One table and will be hoping to build on their recent form.

They’ll now be spending the weekend on the road as they travel away to both Swindon Wildcats on Saturday (6.15pm) and Basingstoke Bison the following night (5.30pm).
