This weekend see’s the new season of FootGolf, the UK’s fastest growing sport, officially start at South Essex Golf Centre, Brentwood with the first National Ranking Event of the year.

It is also the first step on the road to International FootGolf fame with the opportunity of gaining National ranking points and winning the chance to represent the UK at the United States FootGolf Championship in Los Angeles, this September.

The first event of the season will be held from 1pm on Sunday at South Essex Golf Centre, Brentwood and is open to anyone wishing to enter. The sport’s inclusive nature means there is no prior experience needed to take part.

The new sport of FootGolf has been running in the UK for less than two years yet has already gained a huge following from a broad range of players. The UK is at the forefront of the sport’s development and second only to the United States in number of courses offering the sport.

Michael O’Connor, President of the UK FootGolf Association said: “The National Ranking Events will be held every month throughout the summer at courses all over the UK.

“The events are open to anyone wishing to enter and you do not need to register, just turn up and play.

“If you enjoy sport, especially football or golf, then why not come and try our sport? The highest-ranked player at the end of the season will win the chance to represent the UK in Los Angeles at the USA FootGolf Championship – a prize any sports fan would dream of.”
