Elite League: Poole 50 Lakeside Hammers 40

Vortex Hammers promoter Jon Cook says the team must find consistency or risk slipping down the Elite League table.

Hammers have two huge home matches to come next week with King’s Lynn in town on Monday, before Poole and Darcy Ward visit on Saturday week (May 24).

And after defeat against the Pirates on the Dorset coast last night, Cook said: “Every meeting, especially away, we are looking back on what could have been and unless we address that we risk getting to October and saying the same.

“A total of ten points from your heat leaders, when a couple of them aren’t even for beating opponents, is bordering on pathetic and to have two second strings contribute 23 points, with Richard Lawson also winning heat 15, and take nothing away is a hugely missed opportunity.

“We are bitterly disappointed with individual performances and it’s a real shame when the riders concerned have been absolutely terrific up until now. Monday we need to start again and show how much we want to win.”

Pirates: Przemyslaw Pawlicki 13+1, Kyle Newman 9+2, Chris Holder 8, Vaclav Milik 8. Maciej Janowski 6+1, Josh Grajczonek 6, Ben Hopwood 0.

Vortex Lakeside Hammers 40: Richard Lawson 13, Lewis Bridger 10, Peter Karlsson 5+1, Adam Ellis 5, Mikkel Bech 3+1, Ben Morley 2+2, Davey Watt 2.
