The Essex FA are holding futsal qualifiers across the county in February and March

Latest news from the Essex FA

Spaces are severely limited for boys’ and girls’ under-10s teams wishing to enter the Essex FA’s Youth Futsal qualifiers in February and March.

The search gets underway to see who’ll potentially represent their county at regional and national tournaments later in the year.

And futsal offers a fantastic opportunity to maintain fitness during the season, develop techniques and work on the principles of the 11v11 game in an indoor environment.

Recognised and supported by FIFA, UEFA and The FA, Futsal is now played worldwide and differs from the regular five-a-side style familiar to many in the UK.

The main differences are marked lines rather than rebound boards - meaning the ball can go out of play - as well as square goals, heavier and ‘reduced bounce’ balls and a strict five-foul discipline law.

It encourages closer ball control and the game can prove a useful tool for players looking to improve their touch and technique.

For further details on Futsal opportunities across the county, get in touch with your local Essex FA Football Development Officer via the details on

Information is also shared on Twitter @EssexCountyFA and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
