Archant

London Raiders forward Jacob Ranson is writing a new blog during the 2014/15 season

It feels like everything is coming together now.

Training looked good this week, with a very free-flowing practice, a quicker tempo, along with accurate passes as players seemed to be linking up a lot better in lines.

Going into the first away game of the season on Sunday we are looking very promising after what I would say was the best ice time we’ve had so far this season.

In this league and in the changing room you always hear players complaining about the size and the way the puck bounces off the boards in Gosport’s rink, but they should have tried playing on Milton Keynes temporary rink last season!

Going to Solent last season with MK made it feel massive so I definitely won’t be complaining!

A tough test awaits us on Sunday at the small rink as Solent like to trap and play defensive, but we can’t be leaving without the two points, especially after dropping the last game at home to Bracknell.

Having already had some close scorelines with Chelmsford and Wightlink we can’t underestimate their side as they are a hard-working team that won’t give up and have the capabilities of turning people over in their own barn.

I feel we need to bring back more physicality like the Raiders I’ve always remembered, so we don’t allow the opposition to play too much of the game, but not forgetting that we have a lot of skill in this team and must use it to exploit other teams, starting this Sunday.
