Under-13 girls go goal crazy
Shenfield High School’s Under-13 girls won their first match of the season in the same triumphant style that they finished last season.
Passmores Academy provided little threat in their National Cup first round tie as Shenfield eased to a 17-0 success.
Shenfield, after a very successful campaign last season, showed their attacking intent from the start and took the lead inside five minutes.
A second goal soon followed and Shenfield were 8-0 up by half-time.
A change in formation and players did not seem to deter the Shenfield girls as they found their stride in the second half with the same tenacity they had shown in the first.
They went on to play their best football of the whole game and at the end of the game the Passmores PE teacher complimented the Shenfield girls on how nice it was to see a team with so much talent so humble in their playing style.
Shenfield’s Sharley Smith said: “The girls played brilliantly. With such a positive and dominating win the season looks bright and will give them confidence in the next round when they take on London-based Bridge Acacdemy.”
Keith Gerrard helped Britain win a bronze in the European Cross Country Championships on Sunday, and immediately trained his eyes on targets for 2014.
