Basketball: Redden Court 45 Marshalls Park 22
Redden Court under-15s got their season off to a flying start with a convincing friendly win over Marshalls Park.
The visitors found Court to be a strong, well organised side and the hosts dominated an action-packed first quarter, producing some fantastic basketball.
Daniel Ogoro and Caleb Boateng Bekyir both impressed on their Redden Court debuts, while Park also had some good individual performances, with Ryan Smith named Most Valuable Player after scoring 14 of their points.
Redden Court’s Sam Bartlett said: “The team has a few new players and it was extremely rewarding to see them gel so quickly. Watch this space!”
Marshalls Park’s Paul Aylett looked at the positives, adding: “It was a good first game for the squad. Obviously they have had the summer off and will want to improve before the Havering Cup draw is announced.
“Ryan stood out and we were missing some players, Harry Potts (point guard) was unavailable to play.
“Training starts next week so hopefully we can develop as a team and be ready for a good cup run.”
Christine Ohuruogu and Mo Farah have been nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
