Mixed fortunes for basketball boys

Redden Court’s year nine boys bounced back from defeat at St Bonaventures to beat St Edwards this week.

The Harold Wood pupils travelled to Newham for a London Youth Games fixture, which proved a well-contested clash.

But the home side’s experience proved too much in the end as they ran out 75-45 winners.

Teacher Anthony Henry said: “It’s a real tough place to go and unfortunately we fell a little short.”

Court followed that disappointment with victory over local rivals St Edwards the following night, however.

The two sides had met in the Havering Cup final for the past two years and Redden Court produced an excellent second period on their way to a 41-18 victory.

Captained by Jed Roofe and dominated by Dan Ogoro, the boys now wait to learn who their opponents will be in this year’s final.

Henry added: “Special mention must go to Enock Sagonile, Dan Parker and young Zaiyas Symonds who made his year nine debut.”

Squad: Jed Roofe, Dan Ogoro, Dan Parker, Dan Francis, Enock Sagonile, Charlie Haddon, James Sandon, Jack Duggins, Connor Hartwell, Stephen Banham-Scott, Zaiyas Symonds.
