Netball: Emerson Park 20 Marshalls Park 32
Marshalls Park School’s under-16 girls got their London League campaign off to a winning start against local rivals Emerson Park.
The Romford pupils made the short trip for their debut in the competition and the opening 10 minutes of play was very close.
Both sides showed early nerves and made mistakes but Marshalls managed to build an 8-5 lead by the end of the first period.
The next two quarters remained very close, with the scores locked at 14-14 at half-time.
But Marshalls had edged 21-18 up by the end of the third period as both sides, including players who have already earned representative honours, produced some outstanding netball.
The shooting from both teams was of a high standard, along with the general court play as crucial interceptions were made.
But Marshalls began to assert their authority in the final quarter, which proved decisive as they extended their lead to a comfortable 12 goals.
Faye Adamou took the player of the match award for Marshalls.
