Redden Court and Hall Mead girls share 7-a-side spoils
Honours finished even as Redden Court and Hall Mead girls met in a successful 7-a-side football tournament this week.
Redden Court’s Team One played some excellent football in both of their matches, using the big pitch to their advantage and running out 2-1 winners in both meetings.
Amy Nash and Demi Jobson netted in the first fixture, as Grace Roberts impressed in defence.
Katie Hawkes joined Nash on the scoresheet in the second clash, as Freya Duffy made some excellent saves in goal to deny Hall Mead an equaliser.
Redden Court’s Team Two made a slow start to their first match and were 3-0 down inside five minutes.
But Ellie Luxton showed great leadership skills to drive her team on, encouraging them to keep their shape.
Katrina Gilding showed composure to pull a goal back, but Hall Mead had the final say with two more goals for a 5-1 win.
The second meeting was a much closer affair and the scoreline remained blank at the break.
Hall Mead opened the scoring in the second half and quickly added a second to leave Redden Court up against it.
But the girls showed their spirit and determination as Jamie Richardson went close to a reply.
Gilding eventually halved the deficit, but Hall Mead struck again to close out a 3-1 victory.
Teacher Jenny Canty said: “All four games were exciting for the spectator and both Hall Mead and Redden Court gave an excellent accout of themselves.”
