Frances Bardsley have won the chance to represent West Ham at a national football tournament later this year.

The Romford schoolgirls came out on top at an under-13 event organised by the West Ham United Community Sports Trust (CST), beating off competition from across Essex and London at Beckton.

They will now compete in the Premier League National Schools competition in May and Bryan Glover, CST football development officer, said: “The tournament was very competitive, with all the teams showing a great attitude and commitment.

“All the girls gave their all, despite it being a very cold day.

“Frances Bardsley demonstrated excellent teamwork and ability throughout and we are very much looking forward to seeing them in the national competition.”

The CST are organising a mixed under-11 tournament next month, with the winners joining Frances Bardsley in the national round.
