Toolis competes for GB on world stage

Former Coopers pupil Tom Toolis declared himself reasonably happy with his performances in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup series this season.

The 21-year-old from Hornchurch, now studying at Bath University, competed across the globe for Great Britain and is hoping the experience stands him in good stead in future.

He said; “I was pleased to have been chosen for three World Cups this year. I think World Cup 4 in Hungary was the most successful in terms of my personal goals.

“It was disappointing not to make any finals this year. But this is my first year as a senior and this World Cup series has opened my eyes to what i need to work on for future competitions.”

Toolis has now set his sights on earning selection for the European Championships in July and the World Championships in September, adding: “I will continue to train and will likely go to Font Romeu in France during August for altitude training, whether or not I’m chosen for the World Championships.”
