Hockey girls book spot at regionals
Coopers Coborn’s under-18 girls were crowned Essex champions after an excellent performance at Redbridge this week.
The Upminster pupils, who are sponsored by Allen Ford, beat Chigwell, King John, Chelmsford and New Hall in their group to qualify for the semi-finals.
And after a 2-0 win over Bancroft, they edged past Felstead in the final by a 2-1 margin.
Felsted’s goal was the only one conceded by Coopers on the day, as they netted 18 times themselves.
Emily Holmes led the scoring charts with five, while Natasha Patient netted four times and Chloe Menear three.
Beth Fortune and Hannah Bloy bagged braces, with Laura and Chloe Miller also on target.
Coopers now head to the Eastern finals in November.

Drapers Academy saw their under-14 boys beat Jo Richardson in a friendly this week.
Josh Gonsalves netted twice in the first half, with Mathew Butterworth also on target to put them 3-0 up.
Jo Richardson rallied in the second half, but Drapers held firm and saw man of the match Nicolas Bahati get on the scoresheet to complete a 4-0 victory.
