Girls football squad hit back against Albany

Redden Court’s girls football squad celebrate victory over borough rivals Albany last week.

The wettest January on record has made it difficult for schools to organise fixtures, but when a scheduled 11-a-side clash was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch Redden Court took on their hosts in a five-a-side contest.

Albany took an early lead as the two teams played a fast-paced game, lasting over an hour.

But Redden Court kept their composure and shape, retaining possession well on the way to an 8-2 win.

Sophie Sands led the way with a hat-trick, as Charlee Harrop, Scarlett Jacks, Emily Diwell, Josie East and debutant Molly Ayris also netted to complete the tally.

The Redden Court girls were also able to model new kit, purchased for them by money given to the PE department by staff, governors and parents at a fund-raising event last term.

Squad: Molly Ayris, Courtney Clements, Emily Diwell (captain), Freya Duffy, Josie East, Charlee Harrop, Katie Hawkes, Scarlett Jacks, Alanah Jefferies, Emelia Kendrick, Grace Roberts, Sophie Sands, Hannah Wood.
