London Three Essex: East London 29 Upminster 48

Upminster enjoyed a 48-29 success at London Three Essex promotion hopefuls East London in their first game of 2018.

In a pulsating encounter that saw 12 tries scored in total, the Hall Lane club were able to prevail.

Upminster recovered from a slow start to the game by crossing for two tries in the first half to hold a 15-12 lead at the interval.

A bright beginning to the second period saw the Hall Lane outfit pull away in the second half, securing a try bonus point in the process.

The success at East London was just the second time this term Upminster had won on the road in the league.

The Hall Lane club must now wait until January 27 for their next league game, when they entertain leaders Basildon.

When the sides met earlier in the season, Upminster suffered a 31-14 defeat on the road at the start of October.

The Hall Lane team will be looking for a different result next weekend.
