Herons returned to winning ways in league on Saturday

Wanstead head coach David Wiggins was delighted with his side’s display after beating Romford 57-10 in London Two North East.

After suffering their first loss of the season on their last outing, the Herons recovered in fine style to see off the challenge from the Crow Lane club.

The hosts impressed in both halves of the triumph as they clambered back up to second in the standings.

And Wiggins believes the Roding Lane North club were in fine form throughout in their superb win over Romford.

“We played very well and I’m pleased that even after pulling away from Romford, we still played well,” said Wiggins.

“Our defence operated very well and after the first 15 minutes, we were able to stop Romford from playing.

“Our accuracy was also better too, as seen by scoring nine tries against Romford on Saturday.”

Wanstead will hope to turn in a similar performance when they visit Old Cooperians on Saturday.
