London Two North East: Old Cooperians 7 Sudbury 50
Old Cooperians suffered a second London Two North East defeat in as many weeks as their injury-ravaged side were well beaten by divisional newcomers Sudbury, going down 50-7 at home.
The visitors, who plied their trade in London One last season, opened the scoring in the first couple of minutes thanks to some lacklustre defence from the hosts, and soon doubled their lead.
Coops struggled to deal with the tempo of the game and found themselves at the mercy of Sudbury’s impressive back three, as the visitors led 31-0 at the break.
Despite a spirited second half resulting in centre Joe Bilton pulling a try back for the home side, Sudbury scored a further three tries to put the game well and truly to bed.
The result leaves Coops seventh in the league, and they take a break from domestic action to face Cantabrigians in the National Cup this weekend.
