RCIB Insurance support VW Cup campaign

Romford’s RCIB Insurance are backing Simon Rudd’s bid for glory at Spa this weekend.

Rudd has enjoyed a good start to his racing career, recording a podium finish at Brands Hatch towards the end of the 2013 season.

He moved up to the highly competitive VW Cup this year, initially with Team Hard, run by ex-touring car driver Tony Gilham, looking to secure a budget to complete the season with a view to a move to British Touring Cars.

He finished 14th at Rockingham and recorded the eighth fastest lap time at Snetterton last month, saying: “Leading up to Snetterton, I was delighted to announce that I will be backed by Romford-based RCIB Insurance Racing for the remainder of the season.

“As part of the deal, I will race under the team name of RCIB Insurance Racing, with the car featuring a new livery for the remaining four rounds.

“I’d like to say a huge thanks to MD Mike Joseph and Right Choice Insurance Brokers for their support this season.

“Without their introduction and support, we wouldn’t be racing in the VW Cup today.

“It is a major incentive for me to really get my head down and prove I can compete at this level and I hope this is the start of a great partnership.”

Despite some good results so far this season Rudd remains focused on the remainder of the campaign and continuing his development.

“I am really looking forward to Spa on July 12 and then my home race at Brands Hatch at the end of August.

“This season has been great fun so far and I am improving all the time, setting lap times quicker than last year’s pole position time at Silverstone.”
