Buckman: We’re buzzing

Romford Raiders utility man Jason Buckman says the team are excited about their title chances in ENL Division One.
Danny Marshall’s men moved four points clear at the top of the table with victory at nearest rivals Chelmsford and turn their attentions to the Raiders Cup challenge with Isle of Wight today (Sunday, 5.15pm).
The two sides are due to meet again on the island next month and Buckman, who has played on defence and in attack this season, recognises the importance of that February 11 clash.
He said: “It was a great win last week, but it shouldn’t really come as a surprise as we know if we stay disciplined and play how we know we can, we are unbeatable!
“We’ve got four particularly massive games against the Isle of Wight and Cardiff. Our away form has been a lot better this year and we have had the beating of both those teams already this year.
“But I still think they are the key games towards the title.”
Raiders return to league action with a trip to Bristol, then host Slough before their trip to Ryde.
And after hosting Invicta, they have further trips to Streatham and Slough on their schedule.
Buckman added: “We’ve got a massive run-in coming up and even though we’re still buzzing after last weekend, we have enough experience and mental strength in the team to know that the remaining nine games won’t be easy.”
Kevin Mitchell has high hopes that his dream fight, a clash with WBO lightweight title-holder Ricky Burns, will take place at West Ham United’s Upton Park ground on the night of July 14.
