We’re back on track, says Kemp
Romford Raiders goalie Shane Kemp believes the National League title is still within their grasp.
Kemp backstopped the side to wins over Isle of Wight and Cardiff last weekend and said: “Our title chances are back in our own hands. After a couple of weeks where we lost to teams we should have beaten we’re back on track.
“We’ve still got to play Isle of Wight and Chelmsford at home and they’ve got to play each other, so there are still opportunities for teams to take points off each other.
“We know we’ve got the talent and the depth. Now we need to just bear down, play period by period, and grind out the wins.”
Raiders visit Division Two side Peterborough for a cup tie today (Saturday), before hosting Wight in a quick return at Rom Valley Way tomorrow (Sunday, 5.15pm).
Kemp added: “It’s important we don’t underestimate them (Peterborough). They were a Division One side until fairly recently so they’ve got good players and we shouldn’t take them lightly.
“We’ve got to be ready for the Isle of Wight because they are going to come to play.
“You know under [Jeremy Cornish] they’re going to be well prepared and have the bit between their teeth.
“They are going to want instant revenge, they are going to want the win. They’re going to come in here banging bodies and let us not forget they’re a skilful team too.
“We will have to defend well and perform well shorthanded and with the man advantage. If we do our offensive flair will see us through.”
