National League: Raiders 5 Invicta 2
Raiders gained revenge for a slender defeat at the hands of Invicta last weekend with a fine win in Lee Valley last night.
Danny Marshall’s men had been edged out 3-2 a week earlier, after a superb display by Dynamos goalie Chris Douglas, but they set the record straight in style in the return meeting.
The opening exchanges were littered with penalty calls from referee Roman Szucs, with Raiders forward Frankie Harvey receiving a 10-minute misconduct call among them.
Billy Phillips fired the home side in front in the 13th minute, only for former teammate Juraj Huska to get Dynamos back on level terms just before the first break with an unassisted shorthanded strike.
The scoreline remained unchanged until late in the middle session when JJ Pitchley restored Raiders lead with another shorthanded goal, his fifth strike in three matches so far this season.
But Invicta squared matters for a second time early in the final period when Shaun Wild struck during a powerplay as Tom Davis served a tripping penalty.
Raiders took the lead for a third time when Lithuanian import Andrius Kaminskas beat David Wride as the home side enjoyed a man advantage and Shaun Yardley made it 4-2 with less than seven minutes remaining.
And Raiders sealed the points late on when Harvey netted their fifth during a 5-on-3 advantage, after Alan Lack and Ryan Giles were binned in quick succession for the visitors.
Raiders will look to complete a four-point weekend when they travel to south London to take on Streatham tonight (Sunday, 6.45pm).
