Raiders made it three wins in a row with a comfortable success against the Division One South basement boys.

Having beaten Thunder 9-5 at Lee Valley a week earlier and skated to a 5-3 success in Bracknell the following night, Raiders took the lead in the 16th minute when Frankie Harvey netted the only goal of the first period on the under-sized temporary rink.

And JJ McGrath doubled the visitors lead six minutes after the restart, with his second goal of the season, before Harvey and player-coach Danny Marshal combined to set up Czech import Jakub Klima for the first of his four goals on the night.

Thunder hit back with a powerplay goal from Maksims Petruks, but the middle period ended early after a home player took a puck to the knee and needed lengthy treatment on the ice.

Klima claimed his second when play resumed, before the official end of the stanza, and Billy Phillips made it 5-1 with only 18 seconds of the final session gone.

McGrath netted his second of the night at 42:57 before Klima completed his hat-trick with a shorthanded effort.

And Klima had the final say with less than three minutes remaining to cap a good night’s work.

Goalie Michael Gray was named man of the match for Raiders, while Jacob Ranson took the vote for the home side against his former club.

Raiders can expect a tougher test when they make the long trip to Wales to take on Cardiff on Saturday (February 1).

But their small squad will travel in good spirit, having put up a brave fight on the Isle of Wight last month.

Scorers, Thunder: Petruks* 1 Sandy 0+1.

Raiders: Klima* 4+1 McGrath 2 Harvey 1+3 B Phillips 1 Taylor 0+3 Marshall 0+1 Davis 0+1 Oliver 0+1.

Shots on goal: Bell (Thunder) 71 Gray (Raiders, 51:50) 39 Sabine (8:10) 5.

Penalty minutes: Thunder 10 Raiders 26.
