Romford youngster to play in prestigious event
Romford youngster Mikey Power flies out to Canada with the England under-13 squad on Monday to compete in the World Pee-Wee Championships.
Power will become the latest in a long line of the club’s junior players to appear at the prestigious event in Quebec, including current Raiders Frankie Harvey and Billy Phillips.
And he received an extra boost before jetting off, thanks to sponsorship from Ernrick Motors in Elm Park.
Mum Kelly said: “Mikey is very excited. He’s the only Romford boy in his age group that has made it and they had a warm-up game against Sheffield on Friday and beat them 9-4.
“We have 12 games in Canada in 15 days and our first tourament game is against Quebec City.
“Ernwick Motors in Elm Park have been a great garage and donated money for new kit for Mikey.”
