Younger Ross joins John on blue line

London Raiders have announced the signing of young defenceman Ross Connolly, who will join brother John on the roster for the National League Division One outfit.

The six foot two inch blueliner spent last season playing junior A hockey in the United States for Greater Metro Hockey League side Tottenham Steam, scoring 12 points in 25 games and collecting just 14 penalty minutes.

Before that Connolly had appeared for Temescaming Titans, after two seasons with the Solway Sharks under-20s in his native Scotland.

The 18-year-old is viewed as having great potential and a club statement said: “He is described as a shrewd defenceman who is more than capable of joining the play and with a very decent slap shot, as you would expect of the leverage offered by a 6’2” frame.

“Ross shares several things with John. A love for the sport, a position in defence and parents and we are indebted to John for the heads-up on this emerging talent.”

The Connolly brothers will join the likes of Paul and Marcus Cast, Andy and Chris Leggatt as siblings to have worn the gold and blue jersey together
