Raiders were left to rue a slow start as they slipped to defeat in south London on Sunday.
Having come from behind to beat bottom club Cardiff in their first match at Romford’s new Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Saturday, with four third-period goals sealing a 5-2 win, they conceded three goals in barely four minutes to find themselves up against it.
Only 24 seconds had been played when Adam Carr forced the puck past Michael Gray from close range and Michael Farn fired in Streatham’s second at 1:11.
Ollie Baldock replied for Raiders in the fourth minute, but the home side went 3-1 up as Andreas Siagris coasted up ice and rounded Gray to slot home at 4:10.
A hooking penalty against Julian Smith then gave Streatham a power play chance towards the end of the first period and they made it count as Farn fired home his second goal of the night.
The scoreline remained unchanged through the middle session, as Raiders wasted a couple of power play chances, but the visitors grabbed their second goal five minutes into the final period as Baldock struck again.
Juraj Huska then made it a one-goal game with a fine finish, before the gloves came off as Baldock and Ryan Watt tangled.
Baldock was ejected with a 5+game penalty for spearing, but Streatham could not capitalise on their three minutes with the extra man and the match remained on a knife edge heading into the final stages.
The hosts held firm, though, to claim victory after Callum Wells tussled with Ben Paynter in the final few seconds.
