Raiders slipped back to fifth in the National League table after being hit for six by rivals Bracknell on Sunday.

Buoyed by taking a point from an overtime loss at title hopefuls Peterborough the night before, Raiders welcomed Ollie Baldock and Zach Grandy-Smith back to their line-up in Berkshire, but were again without former Bees forward Alan Lack.

And they fell behind in the 10th minute as Shaun Thompson beat Michael Gray, before combining with Callum Best to set up Danny Ingoldsby for a second as Raiders were outshot 12-5 in the first period.

It was 3-0 early in the middle session as Alex Barker found the net, before Callum Wells clashed with Scott Spearing.

Marek Nahlik replied for Raiders just past the midway mark, but their joy was shortlived as Bracknell restored their three-goal cushion just 13 seconds later through George Norcliffe.

The gloves came off again soon after as Raiders defenceman Jack Cooper tussled with Joshua Martin, but the scoreline remained unchanged until the 54th minute when Thompson grabbed his second goal of the night.

Tempers boiled over again seconds later, as Julian Smith and Mark Galazzi traded blows, before Jan Bendik sent Callum Burnett to the ice.

Once the dust settled, Bees completed the scoring with their sixth goal late on as Martin found the net and Best collected his fourth assist of the night.

Defeat leaves Raiders a point behind Bracknell, but with a game in hand.

They host MK Thunder at Romford’s Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre next Saturday (March 10, 5.15pm), before a return meeting the following night to complete the regular season.

Bracknell host third-placed Swindon in their final match of the league campaign.

Bees: Shaun Thompson 2+1, Danny Ingoldsby 1+1, Joshua Martin 1+1, George Norcliffe 1, Alex Barker 1, Callum Best 0+4, Tom Avery 0+2, Carl Thompson 0+1, Joshua Tetlow 0+1, Scott Spearing 0+1.

Raiders: Marek Nahlik* 1, Brandon Ayliffe 0+1, Sean Barry 0+1.

Penalty minutes: Bracknell 18 Raiders 22.

Shots on goal: Alex Mettam (B) 5-9-8=22-1, Michael Gray (L) 12-8-8=28-6.
