Vortex Lakeside Hammers have rung the changes for their big Elite League clash with defending champions Poole Pirates today
Edged out by King’s Lynn on their own shale this week, Hammers have moved captain Davey Watt to the number one race jacket, while Peter Karlsson moves to number three in a bid to rediscover winning form.
Manager Neil Vatcher said: “Since Mikkel Bech’s average forced a change of pairings we haven’t looked in tune on track with our partnerships. By moving PK & Watty around we hope we find more harmony.”
Karlsson was paid for eight points from five rides on Monday, as the Stars snatched a 47-45 win in a last-heat decider. Promoter Jon Cook said: “We weren’t good enough as a team and it showed. We dropped points and not looking for partners cost us a win.”
It’ll be a much-changed Pirates side though with Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Vaclac Milik and Ben Hopwood. In their place they include Rye House’s Steve Boxall, Plymouth’s Kalle Katajisto and Kent Kings’ Jack Kingston.
Hammers: Watt, Lawson, Bech, Bridger, Karlsson, Morley, Ellis.
Pirates: Ward, Boxall, Katajisto, Gracjczonek, Janowski, Newman, Kingston.
UPDATED 5:15PM Tonight’s meeting has been called off because of a waterlogged track. On the decision co-promoter Jon Cook said: “I’d like to thank our track staff for their efforts today but the track is too wet to allow us to erect the safety fences after today’s car practise and both Davey Watt & Maciej Janoswki were of the view that the track was beyond recovery.”
The Hammers are next in action on June 6 when they host Belle Vue Aces at the Arena-Essex Raceway.
