Slovakian import Marek Nahlik netted both goals as London Raiders twice came from behind to earn a point at Gosport last night.

Alan Blyth’s men travelled to the south coast looking to end a six-match losing streak, following a 3-0 home defeat against Invicta on Saturday night.

But they travelled with only 11 skaters, plus goalies Michael Gray and Ryan Bainborough, and had to kill off penalties against Mason Webster (slashing), captain Tom Davis (boarding) and Seb Downing (holding) in a scoreless first period.

The home side broke the deadlock early in the middle session through Richard Facey, but Nahlik levelled four minutes later with an unassisted effort.

Raiders fell into more penalty trouble later in the period as Robbie Veares (charging), Davis (slashing) and Mark Robinson (slashing) were all binned in the space of 36 seconds.

And although Solent had Hungarian import Dominik Hegyi called for cross-checking, the hosts regained the lead through Alex Murray with just over two minutes remaining.

Raiders had skated to a 3-1 win on their previous visit to the small rink, but Gray was called for a delay of game penalty with just over 10 minutes to play.

The visitors survived the shorthanded spell and then Solent’s Hegyi was binned for holding.

It proved decisive as Nahlik netted on the resulting powerplay for his team-leading 31st goal of the campaign to ensure honours finished even as goalies Christian Cole and Gray faced a combined total of 121 shots on their nets.

Penalty minutes: Solent 10 Raiders 14.

*London Raiders have also confirmed that TJ Fillery has signed to play for both themselves and Lee Valley Lions in Division Two.

A club statement said: “This is seen by all parties as a way of maximising the ice time essential for TJ to fulfil his potential and for all teams to get the best from him.

“To this end TJ played for Lee Valley in their 3-3 tie on Saturday and again on Sunday when Raiders were held to a 2-2 tie at the Gosport rink of the Solent Devils.

“We look forward to seeing TJ icing for both teams and continuing to support each other in our successes on the ice.”
