London Raiders were forced to postpone with home match against National League leaders Peterborough Phantoms due to problems with the ice at Lee Valley Arena.

Buoyed by their 6-1 win in Cardiff on Saturday night, thanks to two goals from import forward Juraj Huska and others from Ollie Baldock, Matt Turner, Alan Lack and Jack Cooper, Raiders were looking to make it a four-point weekend back in the capital.

The club were also looking forward to hosting their first-ever ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ in support of their chosen charity The National Autistic Society, while Peterborough arrived in east London on the back of a 6-1 win of their own over sheffield Steeldogs.

But both sides were left frustrated as a patch of ice around one of the goalmouths was coned off, having been turned red by a damaged glycol pipe.

And statements on the London Raiders official Twitter account and website said: “Due to a technical issue with the ice we have had to unfortunately had to cancel the game at @LeeValleyIce!

“Apologies to all for the inconvenience caused which was beyond the control of the Raiders.

“The charity game and our fixture against @GoPhantoms will be rescheduled as soon as possible.”

Raiders are set to host Streatham in their next fixture next Saturday (December 9), before visiting Peterborough – where they had a fine 6-3 win earlier this season – the following night.
