Defenceman leaves the club

Offensive defenceman Matt France is the second player to officially leave the London Raiders for pastures new this off-season.

The 32-year-old, who joined the gold and blue halfway through the 2015/16 season, after a brief stint away from club, has been announced as signing for Essex rivals Chelmsford Chieftains ahead of the next campaign.

France returns to the club, where he spent the first half of 2015/16 season, after playing the 2014/15 for Haringey Racers and the Raiders.

The former assistant captain, who spent most of career between Chelmsford, Romford and Haringey, struggled to find the same form last season as in previous years.

He made 30 appearances, notching one goal and eight assists, for a total of nine points last term.

France is the second name to be confirmed as signing for another club this off-season.

Signing announcements and departures are expected in the coming weeks - check back here for updates.
