London Raiders head coach Sean Easton pleased with late two additions to his squad ahead of the opening weekend of the 2017/18 season.

The Lee Valley-based club announced the signing of free-scoring Slovakian forward Juraj Huska and former fan favourite Jj McGrath at their annual Meet the Players night last week and Easton revealed how the signings came about.

“I spoke to Huska earlier in the summer, at that time he wasn’t planning on playing at all with other commitments, but after a month or so his will and want to play got the better of him,” the 31-year-old said.

“He actually ended up contacting me wanting to sign-up.”

Before adding: “McGrath contacted me much to my surprise expressing his wish to play again in the middle of August.

“We invited him down to training and it does not look like he’s even been out of the game.

“He is just what we needed, a physical presence to add to our fast skilful line up.

“Both players have been and will be again big fan favourites, so it was a no brainer to get them signed up.”
