American gets all-clear to play
As they prepare for this weekend’s pair of home games, Leopards have been boosted by the news that American big man Howard Crawford has been cleared to play.
The six foot nine inch forward was forced to sit out Sunday’s loss against Bradford Dragons due to a delay in his international clearance.
But Crawford is now able to face Manchester Magic on Saturday and Barking Abbey on Sunday, havinng joined the Leopards in the summer.
Crawford top scored with 23 points and seven rebounds on his debut against former club London Lions, but after trying out in Estonia last season he was blocked from playing until clearance had been received, even though he had never played a league game for the Valga club.
“It’s a relief to know that we have Howard available now,” said general manager Dave Ryan.
“The Estonians could’ve moved a lot quicker, though. The only time they seemed to get a move on was when they were asking for money.”
Leopards face Magic in the National Trophy at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday evening (7pm) and then move on to Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre the following day (5.30pm) to face Barking Abbey in the National Cup.
Tickets for both games are available on the door.
