Saturday

East Premier A

Havering v Wapping (12.30pm)

It has been a frustrating couple of weeks for local hockey clubs, with matches called off due to the wintry weather.

Havering managed to beat the big freeze on February 4, to take on fellow strugglers Norwich City at Campion, but a 2-1 defeat sent them to the bottom of the table.

They host Wapping, who are also in desperate need of points, this weekend and captain Paul Johnson has already admitted it could determine their fate this season.

He said: “If we can get three points it will make it very interesting.

“But at the moment, we are rightly favourites for the drop.”

Wapping won 3-2 when the two sides met in early November and a repeat would leave Havering’s hopes of survival hanging by a thread.

Division 1

Waltham Forest v Upminster (1pm)

Upminster return to action at second-placed Forest.

But they will take heart from their recent 2-2 draw with table-topping Peterborough as they look to pull away from the bottom of the table.

Honours finished even when these sides met at Coopers, after a 2-2 draw,

But Upminster must beware of a Forest side who scored six times in their most recent outing at Pelicans.

Division 4SE

Romford v Havering II (1pm)

Title-chasing Havering visit Romford for a local derby.

They romped to a 7-2 win when the two sides met at Campion earlier this season, but were replaced at the top of the table by East London last month.

Romford have won just once in six games and are in real need of a boost, having slumped to an 11-1 defeat at Waltham Forest 2nds in their most recent outing before the big freeze.
