Lakeside Hammers have been chosen to launch the 2013 Elite League season against defending champions Swindon.

The Purfleet club will welcome the live Sky Sports cameras for the March 25 meeting against the Robins, to the delight of co-promoter Jon Cook.

He said: “We feel it’s a real honour to have been chosen to launch the year and we are working with our sponsors to make it a night to remember for the fans present and a fitting start to the season of live speedway.

“More details will follow in the weeks ahead, as will details of our public practice.”

Hammers will hold their Press and Fan Night on Friday March 22 and, after the curtain-raiser against Swindon, will stage their traditional home and away League meetings with Eastbourne on Good Friday (March 29).
