The Vortex Lakeside Hammers will open their 2015 season earlier than normal, on Friday March 20, with the most special of events: The Remembering Rico Spring Classic.

It will be a traditional 20-heat individual competition, with a winner-takes-all final dedicated to the memory of Lee Richardson.

Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook said: “We are honored that Emma Richardson has agreed to the club staging this event as an annual season opener and we’ll be determined to put on a meeting that is a fitting tribute to our fallen captain and number one.”

The 2015 Hammers will be included in the field and the club have applied for FIM inscription to allow invites to be offered to riders not racing in the UK.

Jon Cook will be present at the Fans Forum at the Park Inn, North Stifford tonight (Friday) to set out the club’s future plans on and off track and answering questions on all speedway matters.

Entry is free and is scheduled to start at 7pm.
